Climate

NOW, we re-embrace design and construction philosophies to meet the new challenges of climate change.

Confronting climate change and other environmental threats require fresh thinking. The creators of La Luz, like architects of the past, sought solutions both traditional and modern. They joined modern design with the heritage of native Southwest construction in harmony with the land to create passive solar, energy efficient homes. Today’s climate crisis necessitates we embrace design heritage and innovation.

Environment

NOW, we will return to building sustainable spaces that exist in harmony with and help preserve the natural environment.

The combination of ecological consciousness with historical building traditions that define La Luz have created a path to sustainable design and better living.  A mixed income cluster housing community designed in harmony with its surroundings, La Luz still has lessons to teach to the next generations of designers, builders and developers.

Community

NOW, we can live in purposeful spaces that foster and feed our basic needs of belonging, health, and security.

Grown out of conversations between Ray Graham and Didier Raven, Antoine Predock’s La Luz del Oeste embraces communal spaces that encourage a harmonious interaction of individual activities and shared events.  The time for purposeful living is here once again, as more people are looking to the past to define what it is to live in a community that nurtures meaningful relationships with people and the land.

The La Luz del Oeste Foundation seeks support to facilitate meaningful outreach and education to the wider community about the benefits of a planned development preserving land in common and using sustainable material and design. La Luz is not only an Historic Site, but also a living laboratory and model for innovative ideas and solutions as we face climate change.
